Meet your Hosts
We are Gayle & Norm Eade, previous owners of Hotels and Taverns over the years, we are now retired and enjoying life by the sea.
We have owned the house since 1992 and we have run it as a guest house over the last ten years.
I am a keen golfer and we like to walk our dog Bruce (springer spaniel) on the beach. Norman is an ex oilfield worker and engineer, and enjoys cooking and riding around the hill tracks. We both have e-bikes which is great for the hills and bike tracks around us here in Sumner.
We love meeting people and welcoming guests from all round the world.
We will always respect your privacy but are always available for any information and assistance you may require.
We have recently installed solar panels which powers 90% of our house, doing our bit to save the planet.

14/02/2018We stayed at the Cave Rock Guest House (the name refers to an iconic rock formation immediately in front on the beach) for 4 days whilst visiting family, and exploring... read more the Banks Peninsula. We had the use of both rooms, the kitchenette, the balcony area, and hallway - its very open plan in nature. Each room has a bathroom. The second room is really a lounge but has a very useful double sofa-bed.
The views from the balcony area are wonderful, with large windows that open to let in the warm ocean-breezes (in our case!). The bedroom was huge with a large en-suite with modern wet-room shower arrangement. As of February 2017, there are two restaurants next door (but quiet), between them offering both cheaper and more expensive meals and drinks. There are other restaurants and a small supermarket in the village, 5 minutes walk around the corner.
The layout is a little quirky it has to be said, with not quite enough furniture which leaves wide open spaces of carpet. The TV room is not quite a bedroom to the standard of the first, and the second en-suite not quite as well appointed, but does function for that purpose nevertheless.
The owners live downstairs, but the arrangements are very private. The rooms are refreshed lightly each day. The kitchenette has everything for basic breakfast, drinks and and meal preparation.
For a family, or a couple looking for seclusion and amenity in a lovely ocean facing fresh environment, I would not hesitate to recommend.
